Guidon of Headquarters Battery, 24th Field Artillery Regiment (PS),
(1924-1931)

This guidon, measuring 25" x 41", was probably brought home by Colonel (later Major General) Upton Birnie. He commanded the 24th Field Artillery Regiment (PS) from December 25, 1931 to March 26, 1934.

When the Army changed the size of guidons from 27" x 41" to 20" x 27 3/4" in 1931, the regiment no longer needed this particular one. Maj. Gen. Birnie retired in 1938 after 40 years of service in the Army. (Courtesy of the PDC Collection)
