12th Medical Battalion (PS)
Mar 30th, 2005, 7:49pm

The family of PFC Alfonso (Alfonzo) Fontanos, 12th Medical Battalion (PS), would appreciate any information about him and/or the 12th Medical Battalion (PS).  The American Battle Monuments Commission lists him on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetary, Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippines.  His death is listed as March 31, 1946, which appears to be inconsistent with the MIA status.  Although, there were arbitrary dates given to those who disappeared.  All we know is that he was stationed in Manila before the Japanese invasion, sent his family to the mountains for safety (his wife received a pension), went to Bataan, and did not return.  If anyone can give us any information on him, his unit, or the inconsistency between date of death and missing status we would gratefully appreciate it.  Thank you.
