Moros who were Scouts
Jul 28th, 2004, 2:10pm

Can anyone provide information on these questions from Dr. Eric Casino?  He has been Chief Anthropologist at the Philippine National Museum and a senior research fellow at the East West Center and is a researcher and author.   The Questions follow:

1) Were there Moro Philippine Scouts that opted to join the the U.S.Army and moved to America? 2) If so, are there any of them alive still, and do you know how to reach them? 3) Does anyone know where he can get more photos of Moros who were trained into the military (Philippine Scouts, Philippine Constabulary, World War II Guerrillas, etc.)?  (I've already put him in touch with Fort Sam Houston.  The National Archives are another possibility, as is the American Historical Collection at Ateneo de Manila University.)

Dear Dr. Casino:

I have been collecting material, photos, etc. related to the Philippine Scouts for quite sometime been a son an Scout.

There are two photo (8x10 black & white) which I know that are available at the General MacArthur Memorial Library at Norfolk, VA. with the early Moro's in uniform as early Scouts.
They could be requested around $10 per copy that was years ago which might have increase by now.
Make a request to the Archivist, MacArthur Memorial Square, Norfolk, VA 23510, (804) 441-2965, FAX: (804)
441-5389.
I know they have more pictures available, but the one's I ordered in Photo No. 00004424 and 00004425. There is also a large photograph from the St. Louis World Fair Yearbook when the Scouts was represented under the Philippine Island.
Good luck, I hope this could be of help. If I could be of further assistance, please email me.
